House in Miyazakidai

宮崎台の家

A plan for constructing a kuri (priests’ quarters) within the grounds of a temple in Tokyo.

The site sits in an open area surrounded by the rich greenery of the temple precincts. As a cemetery lies to the north and parishioners visit throughout the day, the openings on that side are kept to a minimum to maintain privacy in daily life. In contrast, a large opening and an engawa facing the southern approach are provided. By shifting the south wall outward from the structural frame, openings can be placed freely along this façade.

To ensure a safe and comfortable final residence for the occupant, the building is designed as a single-story structure, with generously sized, barrier-free sanitary spaces.

都内の寺院境内に庫裏を建てる計画。

敷地は、境内の豊かな緑に囲まれた開けた場所にある。北側には墓地があり、日中は檀家の方が訪れるため、生活のプライバシーを優先して開口部は最小限とし、南側のアプローチに対しては大きな開口部と縁側を設けた。南面の壁を構造躯体から外側にずらすことで、開口部の位置を自由にしている。

終のすみかとして安心して暮らせるよう、平屋とし、水回りはバリアフリーに対応したゆったりとした寸法を確保している。​
