Koji Nakazono : Soulmate
中園孔二：ソウルメイト
An exhibition bringing together 300 works from the estate of Koji Nakazono.
To accommodate this vast number of pieces, a slightly smaller wall—referencing the form of the existing exhibition wall—was installed so that the two walls form a shallow V-shape. The ends of the new wall are enclosed with benches, gently articulating the exhibition room.
The exhibition is structured so that visitors circulate around the wall, passing through its openings and drifting from one chapter to another, experiencing Nakazono’s prolific output and his exploration of diverse techniques.
In the space between the existing wall and the new one, 146 works—the largest grouping in the exhibition—are displayed. Entering this interstitial space, visitors can sit on the bench and take in a full wall of paintings spread out before them.
中園孔二の遺作300点を集めた展覧会。
膨大な作品数を受け入れるため、既存の展示壁の形を参照した一回り小さな壁を、既存壁とハの字型になるよう配置し、その両端をベンチで囲って、展示室をゆるやかに分節している。
壁のまわりを回遊し、壁の開口をくぐり抜けながら、各章を迷い込むように巡ることで、中園の多作さと多彩な技法への探求を体験していくような構成とした。
既存壁と新設壁のあいだの空間には最大点数の146点の作品を配置している。壁と壁のあいだの空間に入り、ベンチに座りながら一面に広がる絵画を眺めることができる。
