Apartment in Yutenji
A housing complex for single residents located in the city center.
By taking advantage of the rectangular shape of the site and placing the elevator core at the center, all four units on each floor are planned to secure two-sided daylight and ventilation.
Large openings are provided on each façade, actively bringing the differing conditions of the surrounding buildings and physical environment into the interior, transforming what tends to be a closed-off single-resident unit into an open, expansive living space. The small setback spaces around the building create a near-field landscape that makes the interior feel as though it extends outward. Views from the windows shift with floor level and orientation, offering changing scenes of the city.
